What is JD matching?
JD matching is the process of comparing your resume against a specific job description to identify keyword and skill gaps. Tools like JD Match show you what percentage of the JD's requirements your resume satisfies — and what's missing.
Why does JD matching matter?
ATS systems do literal keyword matching, not semantic understanding. If the JD says 'Kubernetes' and your resume says 'container orchestration', the ATS scores you 0/1 — even though they're the same thing. Matching closes that gap by surfacing exact JD phrasing.
How does the JD Match tool work?
(1) Upload your resume or paste it. (2) Paste the JD. (3) Get a match score out of 100 plus a list of missing keywords, missing skills, and section gaps. (4) Optional Pro: AI rewrites your bullets to incorporate the gaps automatically.
Is the JD-match tool free?
Yes — the match scoring and missing-keyword list are free. The AI rewrite that closes the gaps is part of Pro ($19.99 / ₹199 onwards). Most users find the free keyword list alone moves their score 10-15 points.
What's a good JD match score?
80+ is safe for most roles. 85+ for high-volume employers (Amazon, TCS, Accenture) where automated filters are aggressive. Below 70 means you're missing critical keywords and likely won't make it past ATS for that specific role.
Can I save and compare multiple JDs?
Yes (Pro feature). You can save 'JD profiles' for different roles you're applying to and switch between tailored versions of your resume. Each one stays separate.
Does the tool work for any job board?
