What's the difference between a CV and a resume?
Regional convention. In the UK, India, Europe, Gulf, Australia, 'CV' is the standard term and tends to be longer (2-4 pages) with more detail. In the US, Canada, 'resume' is standard and shorter (1-2 pages). Our checker auto-detects format and adapts the scoring.
Is the CV checker free?
Yes — unlimited free CV scoring, free fix recommendations, no signup. Pro plans (₹199 / £15 / $19.99 onwards) unlock the JD Builder, AI rewrite, and unlimited PDF downloads.
What does the CV checker actually check?
Four dimensions: (1) Parsing accuracy — can the ATS extract every section? (2) Section recognition — UK CVs use slightly different headers than US resumes. (3) Keyword coverage — does it contain industry-standard terms? (4) Formatting hygiene — no tables, columns, photos near contact info.
Does the checker work for academic CVs?
Yes — academic CVs have a different structure (Publications, Grants, Teaching) and we score them appropriately. ATS at universities (Workday, PageUp, Interfolio) get the right simulation.
Can I check my CV against UK / Gulf / Singapore ATS?
Yes. The major employers in each region use Workday, SAP SuccessFactors, Oracle HCM, or Taleo — all simulated by our checker. India-specific ATS like Naukri are also covered via our India variant.
Should my CV include a photo?
Yes in India, Gulf, parts of Europe. No in UK, US, Canada, Australia (where it triggers bias-protection rules). Either way: never put critical info (name, email, phone) near or over the photo — ATS often crops image regions.
How long should my CV be?
UK and EU: 2 pages standard, 3-4 for senior/academic. India: 1-2 pages for <5 years, 2-3 for senior. Gulf: 2 pages typical. US/Canada: 1 page entry-level, 2 for senior. Our checker doesn't penalize for length — only for parsing issues.
What format should I save my CV in?
PDF (text-based, not image-PDF) is best for most cases. DOCX is required by some recruiters in India and Gulf. Always export from Word, Google Docs, or ResumeGyani — never Canva.
Does the checker work for non-English CVs?
Currently optimized for English. Bilingual CVs (English + Arabic for Gulf, English + French for Europe) get scored on the English content only. Full bilingual scoring is in development.
Can I get a human to review my CV?
