How to Check Your Resume ATS Score
Use our free ATS checker to see how well your resume parses and get improvement tips.
Open ATS Score Checker- 1
Open the ATS Score Checker
Go to ATS Score Checker from the main menu or visit /ats-score-checker. No signup required for basic checks.
Tip: You can check the same resume multiple times after making changes.
- 2
Upload your resume or paste job details
Upload your resume (PDF or DOCX) or paste the job title and description. For best results, paste the job description of the role you’re applying to—our tool will compare your resume against it and suggest missing keywords.
Tip: Role-specific pages (e.g. /check-ats-score-for/software-engineer-resume-india) pre-fill the job type for more relevant scoring.
- 3
Review your score and report
You’ll get an overall ATS score (0–100) and a breakdown: keyword match, formatting, section completeness, and skills. Green = good; red/orange = needs improvement. Read the suggestions under each section.
Tip: Aim for 70%+ for a decent chance; 85%+ significantly improves callback rates.
- 4
Apply the suggestions
Add missing keywords from the job description (naturally in bullets, not stuffed). Fix formatting issues (e.g. single column, standard headings). Then re-upload and check again until you’re satisfied.
Tip: Use our Resume Builder or Upload & Enhance to edit your resume with ATS-friendly formatting, then re-check.
Frequently asked questions
Is the ATS checker really free?
Yes. You can run multiple checks for free. No credit card required.
Which ATS systems does this simulate?
Our logic is based on common ATS behavior (Workday, Greenhouse, Lever, Taleo, etc.). No tool can replicate every ATS exactly, but we cover the main parsing and keyword rules.
Why did my score drop after changes?
Sometimes adding too many keywords or changing structure can hurt. Follow the in-report suggestions and keep wording natural.
